Bryan’s hands froze around her waist, which Sophia did not notice.
“Mate?” she let out in a lower tone.
After seeing Bryan’s reaction, she was taken aback. It was her expectation that he would kiss her again in response.
“What happened?” She asked with hopeful eyes.
He turned his gaze toward her. “I–”
Bryan was cut off when the door burst open.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Bryan yelled as he turned his head towards the door.
Bryan’s sudden burst caught Beta Robert off guard. He glanced at Sophia and then returned his gaze to Bryan. Robert understood that he should have knocked on the door before entering.
“Alpha, I’m sorry to disturb you. I told my driver to drive Miss Mila to the pack house. And I believe it’s not time for your private life. We need to call out a meeting today.”Visit J o b n i b- . c o m to read the complete chapters for free. Bryan glared at him. “Why?” he asked.
Sophia gulped as she took a few steps back from Bryan. They were too close in distance to each other. To act that way in front of other people would be unprofessional.
“All the Alphas from the Moon Valley Pack opposed Alpha Lucas Laurant.”
Bryan scoffed at it. “What’s new?”
Robert gulped as he looked at Bryan carefully, then said,
“Alpha Victor called me again. He wants to talk to you.”
Sophia noticed the change in Bryan’s face.
Robert’s phone began to ring. Robert’s phone caught Bryan’s attention.
Robert took a quick look at Bryan before answering the phone.
“Yeah, he is here.”
He handed the phone to Bryan, averting his gaze from him.
Bryan snatched the phone from Robert and turned to Sophia.
“I will talk to you later.”
Sophia immediately replied, “Okay.”
“Go back to your work.”
Sophia nodded her head in response and turned around to leave the cabin.
While she was approaching the door, she heard Bryan talking on the phone.
“What?”
His voice was full of anger; he almost growled.
Sophia did not know what the other person was saying; she could only hear Bryan.
“Why hurry for a pack meeting? Do all your Alphas fear me to such an extent that they informed you out of fear?”
Sophia grabbed the doorknob as she wondered how the Victor guy had the audacity to offend Bryan.
As she opened the door, she overheard Bryan.
“Do whatever you want. But if you dare to even touch her, you will have to face me. Don’t forget that your father still has some authority left.”
Sophia was confused. Who were they talking about? Who would Alpha Victor try to touch?
She was astounded by everything she had heard.
She turned her head to glance at Bryan. But when she noticed Beta Robert staring at her, she quickly closed the door and exited the cabin.
Employees glanced at her when she walked to her cabin.
“Miss Sophia, are you okay?” A woman asked her.
“Huh?”
“Is everything alright inside the cabin?”
Sophia nodded her head in reply. “Yeah.”
She went to her cabin and sat down on her chair. She pressed her palms on her forehead and let out a deep sigh.
The realization that she had finally admitted it to Bryan made her gasp.
She touched her lips and smiled. She even initiated kissing him like a strong girl who did not give a damn about anything else.
She thought back to what Bryan was trying to say.
‘He may be about to say I love you too. But Beta Robert interrupted him. That’s why he got mad,’ she thought.
She blushed as she thought about how she would feel when he accepted her heart.
‘He might be surprised by my unexpected confession,’ she told herself.
After a few minutes, Bryan called her.
“Mate?”
“Call out for a meeting tonight.”
“Tonight? What about tomorrow?”
“Cancel tomorrow’s meetings and schedule one for tonight instead. Inform others, as I instructed you.”
“Okay.”
Bryan cut the call. She stared at the phone for a long time.
“He is very busy,” she told herself. With a shrug, she got to work on her task.
When it was lunch break, she walked out of her cabin. She was tired. She had to inform so many people at a time. She did not even know what the project was that Bryan wanted to discuss tonight.
‘Why must it take place tonight? I wanted to go somewhere with him tonight,’ she thought, feeling upset.
As she made her way to Bryan’s office, she heard someone calling her name from behind.
She turned around and saw Troy.
“Happy Birthday, Sophia.”
Troy approached her. “Thank you very much, Troy. How do you know about it?”
“My mom was talking with your mom today.”
“Oh.”
She talked to Troy for a while. Troy told her how everyone was talking about Mila’s arrival in the company.
Sophia remembered Bryan telling Beta Robert to take Mila to the packhouse.
Why did she move into the pack house? It was good that Bryan did not live in that house.
She went to Bryan’s cabin and found no one. She wanted to call him but since he did not inform her, she thought not to call him.
She believed Bryan would make everything right.
Sophia set aside other ideas to concentrate on her work.
It was past seven o’clock.
Sophia came into the conference room to make sure everything was set up correctly.
One by one, the Alphas of the Night Shade Pack entered the conference room.
When Bryan returned to the company and entered the conference room, he informed Sophia that she was not required to stay because the meeting was about the pack, not the company.
She politely followed his order and left the conference room.
She waited in her cabin for the meeting to end. She placed a request for decorations over the phone at a restaurant. She planned to go to the restaurant for dinner with Bryan after the meeting. She would persuade him to go there with her.
It was her birthday. She did not want to miss the day in any misunderstanding.
When it was ten minutes past eight, she got up from the chair and left her cabin.
She walked to the conference room and stopped outside the door.
She was curious as to what was happening inside the room.
Suddenly, the door opened, and a man dressed in an expensive blue suit emerged from the conference room.
Sophia was taken aback when she saw him. As they remained motionless, his gaze was drawn to her.
However, Sophia found him different from how he always met her. He looked cold and arrogant yet strong and powerful.
“Adon? How do you get into the conference room? You should have asked me for an appointment fir–”
She was interrupted by Theta Noble, who came out of the conference room, following the man.
“Alpha Victor, let me see you out.”
“Alpha Victor!”
