Sophia was shocked. It was impossible for her to believe what she was hearing.
“W-What have you just done? W-We didn’t plan it.” Sophia whispered.
Victor looked at her and replied, “I changed the plan at the last moment.”
Sophia was at a loss for words right now. She intended to fake their relationship in front of others, but she never expected Victor to go so far.
She clenched her jaw as she glared at him. She did not agree with it. It was clearly visible in her eyes. She wanted to push him, but she realized that someone was behind her, and she did not want him to see that.
So she tried to keep calm and looked away from Victor.
Meanwhile, Bryan’s mother, Juliana, took a step back. Bryan’s father, Alpha Harry, was also shocked. They did not understand why Victor did that.
Mila and her family were equally shocked, as they felt the ground slip beneath their feet.
Mila shifted her attention to Bryan and took a few deep breaths. She did not know if she should be happy that his mate was going away from him.
Meanwhile, Beta Robert stared at his Alpha. He was worried like hell. If Bryan reacted in any way, the Night Shade Pack would be in big trouble.
It was a major rule in both the Night Shade Pack and the Moon Valley Pack that if the head Alpha declared any woman as the future Luna, it was against the law to remove her from that position.
It applied to Mila as well. She was the declared future Luna for years. Now, after Victor announced Sophia, she was also fixed for Luna’s position.
There was no one who could oppose it. It was only possible because Sophia claimed herself to be mateless. Because she stated that she did not have a mate, no one came to stop the wedding.
When Robert noticed that Bryan’s fists were becoming more clenched, he let out a trembling breath. The veins on Bryan’s hands turned blue, as if the bloodline was about to burst.
He slowly turned his attention to Bryan’s face. He was shocked when he saw that Bryan’s face was calm. It was as if he did not care.
Robert shut his eyes to control his own emotions. His Alpha was trying to be indifferent. He did not want others to see what was going on inside him.
Robert grabbed Bryan’s fist and muttered,
“Alpha, please–”
Bryan yanked his hand and raised it to halt him.
Robert gulped and looked around at the other officials, who were all staring at Bryan in fear.
On the other hand, Abraham appeared to be stunned. However, because he was upset with his sister, he maintained his silence and did not say anything. Her actions today made him feel hurt. He had never expected that from her.
For him, Sophia and his mother were everything. Today, Sophia distanced herself from him and her life by pushing him away.
Victor turned around and looked at Bryan. “Alpha Bryan, you don’t need to be concerned about my Luna anymore. I will make sure that she is well taken care of in my pack. She is going to be very pleased with me.”
Bryan paid no attention to Victor’s remarks and instead looked at Sophia, who had remained silent after the announcement.
“Did you know about it?” He questioned her directly.
His cunning gaze was enough to calculate her reaction.
After giving a slight shrug of her shoulders, Sophia nodded her head. She looked into his eyes and replied,
“Of course, Alpha Bryan, I was aware from the beginning. Victor is not like some typical Alpha who is running after power. My family has nothing to give him in return, yet he is eager to make me his Luna. Do you know why?”
Bryan kept his gaze fixed on her, observing the hatred in her eyes for him.
He felt a sharp pain in his chest, which irritated him. However, he did not express it through his face.
“Why?” he asked calmly, as if it were just him and her, with no one else around.
Sophia gave him a bitter smile from her heart.
“He knows how to treat a woman with respect. Otherwise, other Alphas are only interested in having mistresses alongside their wives.”
The Alphas who were present at the party were taken aback by her statement. Most of them had mistresses. Some of their wives knew, while others were unaware. It was very common at this time to get women anywhere. They almost got mad that Sophia raised that matter to pull them in.
Alpha Lucas looked around the hall and raised his hand to calm everyone down. He turned to Bryan, who was looking at Sophia.
“Alpha Bryan, I think we should also discuss your and Mila’s wedding date.”
Mila lowered her head when she heard that. To gain Bryan’s attention, she said it in a soft tone.
“It’s okay, Dad. I don’t mind having to wait a long time for the wedding. It’s Bryan’s choice how long he will make me wait.”
Taking his eyes off of Sophia, Bryan let out a sigh and then moved his gaze away from her. After giving a slight nod, he turned his attention to Alpha Lucas.
The icy look in his eyes concerned Alpha Lucas. He thought Bryan would postpone the date, but he was shocked when he heard Bryan’s next words.
“Next Month.”
