When Bryan saw the word ‘indemnification’, his gaze paused. His eyes flashed red for a moment as the past flickered in his mind for a moment.
Bryan raised his head to look at Robert. His gaze cut off Robert.
His eyes returned to the contract. As he began to read the contract silently, Robert glanced at him from time to time.
He did not want Bryan to recall his past. It was something very unpleasant.
The more Bryan turned the pages, the more his face turned furious.
“That old bustard is really something else,” Bryan said, tossing the folder on the desk.
Robert reached for the folder and went back to the bookshelf to place it back in its place. After locking the bookshelf, he looked at Bryan.
“Alpha Gabriel Laurant was a moron. His whole pack used to dislike him when he ruled the Moon Valley Pack,” Robert said.
Bryan nodded his head. “Yeah. Just like his grandson, Victor Laurant. Sometimes, I feel like that man went on with his grandfather. But then I realized I was wrong. He is worse.”
Robert agreed with Bryan. He noticed Bryan lighting a cigarette and took a deep puff of smoke to ease his nerves.
“That’s why I told you not to read the contract again. It ruined your mood,” Robert said, walking back to the desk and taking a seat on a chair.
“Bryan, there is no way you can call off your wedding. It’s inevitable. It’s good that Alpha Lucas is on our side. Don’t forget this wedding contract saved you years ago.”
Bryan rested his head against his chair and closed his eyes.
“Victor got his wings. It seems that I have to send him to the place where he belongs once again. I really wish I had killed him that day.”
Robert shook his head and replied, “Alpha Gabriel would have killed you. He loved his grandson more than his own son. You were not the head of Alpha at that time.”
Bryan opened his eyes, and they gleamed. A smirk formed on his lips as he said,
“But now I am the head of Alpha, and he is no longer in this world to look after his grandson. Who will protect his beloved Victor from me?”
Robert stared at Bryan, catching a glimpse of the old Bryan. There was a maniacal look on his face when he talked about Victor.
“Bryan, this wedding is not only important for you but for the whole pack. It is the reason why the Laurant family does not bother you about having a mate. They don’t care. But if you take a step back, you know what can happen. Their pack’s laws are unavoidable. It’s about your life too.”
Bryan closed his eyes again as if thinking about something.
Robert rubbed his forehead and said,
“We are forbidden to talk about it. Otherwise, I would have spoken with Sophia myself. She is the woman my best friend is in love with. I would have never let her leave you. But she chose Victor, and he has already announced their wedding date. Bryan, you have no choice but to let her go.”
—
A week passed as Sophia was counting the day when Victor would return to the Night Shade Pack.
In the last few days, Bryan did not let go of a chance to come across her path.
He started sending gifts, flowers, chocolates, and other things. She wondered if he sent those things to the wrong address. She could not believe he thought he could buy her with those things. So she ignored everything.
It was a day when she got a call from the dean of her university.
She asked him about her transfer certificate so that she could start applying to a university in the Moon Valley Pack. But in return, they denied her proposal.
“We got the order from the upper side. We are unable to issue you a transfer certificate.”
It was what she got to hear. There was no doubt the “upper side” meant their main shareholder, Alpha Bryan.
She was irritated because Bryan was making her life miserable.
Today, there was a conference at the university. So she decided to attend the conference and question the dean directly about the papers.
After having breakfast with her mother, she left for the university directly.
She avoided other people’s stares and walked to the dean’s office.
She knocked on the door, standing outside.
“Come in.”
When she heard the man’s voice, she opened the door. As soon as she stepped into the office room, she froze.
A man in a black suit was seated in a chair. The dean was looking afraid while looking at him.
Sophia turned her gaze away from the man and cleared her throat.
“Sir, could I please have some of your time? I need to talk to you.”
The dean gave Sophia a quick glance before motioning her toward the man sitting across from him.
Sophia rolled her eyes and realized that she had not bowed her head yet.
She was about to bow, but then she stopped herself. “You forgot that I was going to be some other pack’s Luna. So I don’t think I need to bow to him now.”
The dean was stunned. “Sophia, bow down your head Alpha right now. You will be another pack’s Luna, but you are still this pack’s member. I will never tolerate this level of disrespect in my office.”
Sophia turned her head to Bryan, who was looking at the dean, not giving a glance at her as if he were not the man who had been disturbing her the whole week.
“I am sorry, Alpha Bryan.”
Sophia said it sarcastically and bowed to him.
The dean looked at Bryan. “Alpha, she is requesting a transfer certificate from our university.”
“What’s wrong with it? Give it to her.”
His simple answer shocked the dean. “B-But you were the one who told me…”
“I have changed my mind. Since I changed it, I expect something in return.”
Sophia frowned at him. “What do you want?”
“Your one day.”
