The End

Paula

“What do you mean you have two dads?” I whip around in the car seat and stare at my fiancé.

Henrik proposed as soon as he realized I don’t believe in everlasting love. His exact words were, “I know you don’t believe me when I say I’m not going anywhere, but perhaps a ring will make it easier? You’re a human, and I want to respect your traditions, too.”

And now we are engaged and on our way to his parent’s house. There is just one detail: he forgot to mention his mom is married to twins. They are poly, which I’m cool with, but now I don’t have a gift for both of the dads! I only bought one bottle of aged whiskey.

“What am I going to do now?” I wail, clutching the Bordeaux leather case that protects the whiskey. This isn’t a bottle you would find on a standard liquor store shelf. No, this is a twenty-five-year-old Glenlivet Single Malt, a gift for a gourmet.

Henrik glances at me with a mixture of endearment and mild amusement. “How did you manage to pay for that bottle? No offense, but that bottle is well above your paycheck, and you refused to use my card to buy a gift.”

I hug the bottle tighter. “I won this during poker night. It seems vampires are terrible players.” Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Jobnib.com. Visit Jobnib.com to read the complete chapters for free. Henrik chuckles. “Is that right?”

“Yes, humans rule.”

He grins. “My parents are going to love you.”

“No, they will hate me because I’m only bringing one bottle of whiskey!”

“Relax, darling. My dads share everything. They won’t mind sharing this splendid gift.”

“But Henrik,” I protest, “It just feels…wrong? Shouldn’t they each have their own gifts?”

Henrik chuckles and takes my free hand in his own across the car’s central console. “Paula, they are two bodies but one soul in many ways. Don’t fret about formalities-they share the same wife, for fuck’s sake.”

“That’s..oddly comforting.”

“Right?”

Henrik makes a right turn, and I sink further into the seat when I see the grand building. It looks even more luxurious than the one Henrik is living in, and there are statues of wolves everywhere.

“Umm, Henrik?”

“Mmm?”

“Your parents are dragons, right?”

He chuckles. “No, they are not. You have nothing to worry about.”

“Oh.”

“They are werewolves.”

“Wh-what?!”

Henrik scratches his chin. “Except for Eric, one of my dads, he is a hybrid between a werewolf and a vampire. You see, he needed to be brought back to life, and well…shit happened.”

“What the actual hell, Henrik? Why didn’t you tell me this! They are all going to hate me if I’m the only human!”

“No, they won’t,” a smile curls his lips. “My mom is the sweetest werewolf ever and also the most powerful one. She has ice powers, and although she isn’t leading the pack today, she was a force to be reckoned with when she was younger.”

I gulp. “With a mom that amazing, I’m sure your dads expect you to not settle for anything less…”

He frowns. “You’re my fated mate and the most precious gift I could have been given. If anyone has a problem with that, be it my enemies or my family, they can go to hell.”

I stare at Henrik in surprise. He is always so gentle and kind that it’s easy to forget he has a more drastic side to him. The dragon within him is fiercely possessive of me, up to the point I’ve heard Henrik growl at men who have checked me out on the street.

Not that I mind. Henrik can’t help it and usually apologizes, even though I think it’s charming that he seems to believe every man is out to get me. And while I know I shouldn’t be turned on by how possessive he is, it might be a toxic trait of mine.

There is nothing sexier than a jealous Henrik kissing and fucking me just to remind me who I belong to. He can get really rough in bed, but I love it, especially since he is so sweet after I’ve been dominated by his height, muscles, and enormous dick.

Oh, and sometimes we switch. Henrik seems to like it a lot when I handcuff him and take control. Tiny women with whips is one of his greatest weaknesses.

“We are here,” Henrik announces after parking the car outside the mansion. A butler is smiling at us, and I immediately grow nervous all over again. This place is so posh, while I’m just this poor city girl.

“Maybe I should wait here until you’ve told me I’m a human…”

Henrik squeezes my hand over the middle console. “Honey, it’s fine. They won’t care if you’re a human or not.”

“Won’t they think I’m weak?”

“Then I’m strong enough to beat all of their asses.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, but it wouldn’t ever come to that. They are family, and they are going to love you.”

“If you say so…”

“I know so,” he says, opening the car door. But enough talking. We should head inside. I’m starving.”

As we step out of the car, the manor doors swing open, and the imposing figure of a man steps out. His eyes are glowing red even in the dim light, a clear sign of his vampiric nature. He walks towards us with a predatory grace, a wide grin on his striking face.

“You’re finally here!” he calls out cheerfully. “And who is this?” His attention lands on me. “Is this the poor lady that is stuck with you for all of eternity? Wow. She is way too beautiful for a reptile like you.”

Beautiful? Surely, he can’t mean that. I’m nothing special while Henrik looks like a supermodel.

“Really, Dad?” Henrik sighs. “Do you have to bully me in front of my fiancé?”

Eric chuckles. “Sorry, sometimes I can’t help myself.”

“And I thought Logan was the clown…”

“Hey, I’m training to be more friendly since your mom complains that I’m way too grumpy!”

“Well, you’re failing at being friendly…”

“Fuck, am I really?”

“Yeah, but I love you anyway.”

The two of them hug each other and do the three pats on the back before leaning away. I stand awkwardly by the car, feeling woefully underdressed and out of place since I’m wearing a simple white dress.

“Oh my god, she is gorgeous!”

I look up in shock when a blonde woman as short as me runs toward me with a brilliant smile. Is it Henrik’s mom? She is so…tiny. Is she truly the most powerful werewolf to have ever existed?

“Hey, Mom,” Henrik says. “And yes, this is my fiancé and soon-to-be-wife, Paula.”

“Hi.” It’s all I manage to muster as she engulfs me in a tight hug, dagger-like nails digging into my back.

“You are even more stunning than your photos!” she gushes, pulling back to examine me closely. She has the same fiery eyes as Henrik. They are not the same color, but I can see the same gleam, amusement, and warmth.

“Photos?” I echo dumbly. Had Henrik been showing off pictures of me? I felt my cheeks heat up under the scrutiny.

Henrik intervenes before his mother can say anything else embarrassing. “Mom, remember what we talked about – boundaries,” he says firmly, but with a glint of humor in his eyes.

“He’s always such a stickler for rules,” she smiles at me, releasing her grip to stand beside her towering husband. Eric simply rolls his eyes at her comment, but there’s an unmistakable fondness on his face.

Henrik chuckles, then turns to me and offers his hand. “Are you ready to meet the rest of the crazies?”

“Yes, and your other dad-Logan.”

“He should be in the garage,” Eric says. “He is the most intelligent in the family and is working on some boat project with one of our daughters.”

“Daughters? Wait…you have sisters?!” I exclaim and glare at Henrik.

He smiles sheepishly. “Right, I forgot to tell you that I have three sisters-triplets. Surprise!”

I shake my head slowly. “You’re lucky that you’re so handsome…”

His smile broadens at that, and he leans down to steal a quick kiss. “I know.”

My anger melts when he looks at me, and since I can’t help myself, I hug him, not caring that we have an audience. I love this big idiot more than anything in this world, and nothing can keep me away from him.

He is stuck with me for life.

“Look at them,” I hear Henrik’s mom sob. “They look so happy together-now I can finally rest in peace. My baby has found someone.”

“Are you seriously crying right now?” Eric asks in disbelief.

“Shut up and hug me, you bastard, or you’re sleeping in the bathroom!”

“Yes, dear.”

The fear in Eric’s voice makes me smile. It seems like the love for bossy wives runs in the family.

“What are you smiling about?” Henrik murmurs into my ear.

“Nothing, I just…” I lift my chin to beam up at him. “I think I just realized that we are in this forever.”

And I couldn’t be any happier about it.

The end.
