Five
As I enter the house, an awkward tension hangs in the air. Jeremy, the father of the twins, is scolding them in the kitchen, and I silently slip off my shoes to listen.
“What were you guys thinking?!” Jeremy bellows, and I wince at the sheer tone of his voice.
The twins’ father has stepped down as the Alpha of the Wintercrest pack, but the old werewolf still holds a position on the council of elders. He is still a formidable force among the pack members, a seasoned leader whose influence matters and whose respect is hard to earn.
Jeremy continues scolding his sons. “Ada Lietail is the strongest unmated she-wolf in our pack. She could definitely breed strong pups for one of you, but instead of trying to charm her, you threaten her? And for what? To protect that weak werewolf without an inner wolf! How could you do that to me? Do you even realize how embarrassed I was when Ada’s father called me?!”
My heart aches. I had no idea the twins would get in trouble for standing up for me. Jeremy lashes out, and I feel each swat to their cheeks as if he is hitting me instead. They don’t fight him back, a testament to their respect for their father.
I want to speak up and defend the twins, but I don’t. I know better. Know that my voice means nothing. So instead, I stay in the corner and silently observe their dynamic by peeking inside the kitchen.
It breaks my heart to see Logan and Eric staring down at the floor with unemotional expressions. Jeremy expects obedience, and the boys give it without question because they understand that being part of a pack means following its rules.
Suddenly, Jeremy stops yelling and looks at his sons with a softened face. “You did what you thought was right,” he says in a calmer tone. “But if you ever do something like this again, I won’t be so lenient.”
The twins nod in agreement, and Jeremy walks out of the kitchen. I press myself to the wall, praying he won’t notice me, and luckily, he doesn’t.
I stare after him, unsure of what to do, until I hear Logan and Eric talk to each other.
“Breed Ada? Pfft, I would rather mate with a rabid squirrel than that bitch,” Eric says with a scoff.
Logan laughs. “Yeah, she may be strong, but she has a temper and a mouth that never stops running. Could you imagine how terrible it would be to be her husband? Bitch would never let you speak.”
“A self-absorbed golddigger, I’m sure.”
“I bet.”
“I’m also certain she is the one that beat up our precious little Duchess.”
My heart flutters when Eric says my nickname. His voice is so gentle when he says it that it stirs something deep within me. I try to suppress a smile but ultimately fail. I’m on pink little clouds and turn to leave, but before I can take a step, I’m stopped by the solid wall of Logan’s muscular chest. His musky scent fills my nose, and I’m paralyzed by his presence and the smirk spreading over his lips.
“Did you eavesdrop on us, Duchess?” he cocks his head to the side, sounding more amused than angry.
I take a deep breath and try to straighten my posture. “No, I…I just came in to see if you two were okay.”
Logan’s smirk fades, but he doesn’t move away. We stand there for a few moments, lost in each other’s gaze until Eric snorts from the kitchen table.
“Well, since you’re here, you might as well join us for dinner,” there is a grin on his lips which throws me off. His expression is much gentler than what I’m used to.
I’m about to object, but Logan’s gentle yet firm hand glides down my back, sending shivers down my spine. “Why don’t you have a seat, Duchess,” he whispers huskily into my ear while pressing his body against mine and guiding me into the kitchen.
His body touches mine, and the heat of his skin sends shivers down my spine, a sensation that I can’t ignore. He leads me to a nearby chair, pulling it out with one hand while still holding onto me with the other. As I sit down, I can feel his gaze on me-intense, burning-and suddenly, I’m filled with a sense of longing that I can’t explain.
And I’m a sinner because when Eric’s dark eyes meet mine, I realize I want them both. Not just one twin, but both of them, their strong bodies flush against mine and full lips exploring every inch of my skin.
“How are you?” Eric suddenly asks, and it…shocks me.
Eric isn’t known for being kind or talkative. He is a grumpy Alpha, but he is smiling at me now with his right cheek leaning against his knuckles. He is stunning to behold. My heart races, and my cheeks flush crimson, yet I can’t look away from him. I’m mesmerized by his beauty and his fiery gaze that claims me with its intensity.
I try to compose myself and answer his question, but before I can open my mouth, Eric interrupts me with a teasing smirk. “Admiring the view, Duchess?” he teases.
A wave of new heat rushes over me as I blush furiously, and Logan chimes in with a low chuckle. “Someone’s smitten,” he says with a knowing grin. “Try not to tease her too much, brother. I don’t think the little Duchess is used to getting this much male attention.”
Eric’s expression turns more serious, but I can still see the glint of amusement in his eyes. “Does it make you nervous to spend time with us alone?” he asks, studying my reaction.
Part of me wants to lie, but I can’t bring myself to do that, so I tell them the truth. “Yes…”
They both laugh, and Logan walks over to give me a reassuring pat on my shoulder. “Don’t worry, Duchess,” he says with a smirk. “We won’t bite… At least not that hard.”
My heart races, and my skin tingles at his touch. I glance up at him, trying to suppress my reaction to him, but it’s too late. Logan notices and grins wider before taking a step back and crossing his arms over his chest.
“Oh, this is going to be fun if you’re that easily affected by us, Duchess,” he says with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “I can already tell.”
I feel my blush deepen, but I don’t have the chance to respond because Eric interrupts us by speaking up.
“Don’t be so hard on her,” he says, and there’s a teasing edge to his voice. “It’s not every day you get two gorgeous werewolves in your presence.”
He stands up from the table and walks towards us, his gaze never leaving mine until he reaches out to place a gentle hand on my shoulder. His touch sets my skin on fire, and I can feel my heart thumping in my chest as his thumb begins to stroke circles against my neck.
“There is no need to be so tense,” he whispers huskily into my ear. “We aren’t here to hurt you; quite the opposite.”
Suddenly, it gets harder to breathe. The air between us is charged with chemistry, and the tension is almost palpable. Logan moves closer to place his hand on my cheek and gently caresses it while Eric stands behind me, still stroking my shoulder and massaging it.
I can feel their desire for me in the air, and I’m drawn to both of them like a moth to a sparkling flame-it’s utterly intoxicating.
Logan leans in closer, his breath tickling my neck as he whispers into my ear. “You have no idea how beautiful you are.”
Eric takes this as his cue to move closer and stand flush against me. His eyes are fixed firmly on my lips, and he licks his own as if in anticipation of a kiss. His hand settles on my waist for a few moments before he moves it lower to settle on my thigh. I can feel his huge hardness as he stands there, pressed against me.
“Hey, don’t forget about me,” Logan mutters and places a finger underneath my chin before bringing my face around to force my attention upon him.
And oh, he is beautiful too! My heart skips a beat when he smirks at me before stealing a kiss from my lips. The zap of our tongues touching can be felt all the way to my toes. I push into him, hungry for more, while both of the twins touch me.
Their hands move in unison, their fingertips slowly denting my skin as they caress my body in a tender embrace. All of a sudden, I’m taken captive by their combined energy; two strong alpha males standing around me, wanting me with an intensity that takes my breath away.
It is overwhelming yet empowering at the same time. I’m a slave to their touch, and without thinking, I lean into it-into them-and moan when Logan’s mouth is exchanged for the one belonging to Eric.
“You belong to us,” Logan growls into my ear.
Eric breaks our kiss, whispering. “And we will make you feel so good, so good, Duchess-all you need to do is say yes.”
