Zanian POV
“so that is the whole story.” I said and looked around the table at the elders.
“how do we know you are speaking the truth?” Derek asked and stared at me.
“because I have no reason to lie.” I said and looked over at Chrystal. She has been quiet throughout this whole meeting and Julian was just staring at everyone.
“how is it that your pack is the first pack in over 2000 years that unites two species even though it’s punishable by death?” Clarissa asked and by the looks of it she is the one who has more brains than the lot of them combined. I thought to myself and saw Julian trying not to laugh.
I looked at her and said, “I don’t know. “Strange things has been happening to my pack ever since I started forming it.”
“yes we picked up on the scent, although everyone here is a rogue no one looks or smells like a rogue how come?” Derek asked.
“I don’t know.” I said and I wish I did because I was hoping they could give me the answers I wanted.
“does anyone else know about everything that is going on?” Vivian asked and for the first time I had an answer.
“only those within these walls and on these grounds knows what is going on.” I said and she just nodded her head.
I looked at Clarissa and said, “when you saw me for the first time you said, “I look just like him” did you know Odin?” I asked waiting for her to answer.
She looked at me and smiled, “I was there the day he found his mate. Believe it or not I was so happy for him, but something seemed off and when I went back a couple years later they told me he died and his mate ran away. so I left it at that. We never knew he had a son.” “Clarissa said and looked at me with a sad smile.
“we used to be very involved with the kingdom before the war happened and the species were still co-existing but after the war the council split up and we became a target to those who want’s all the power.” Derek said and crossed his arms on the table.
“we are well aware of our history, what we just don’t understand is how you Elder could have missed the fact that innocents were being murdered for knowing too much.” Chrystal said and stared at Derek.
“you know, I grew up being bullied and hated, then I got rejected by my mate and I died. if my mother was still alive that would have never happened, but she got killed for protecting her mate in a fight against rogues in the kingdom, the same kingdom you expect us to have respect for. So excuse me I it may sound a bit disrespectful, but where were you when all that happened?”
Chrystal asked looking around the table.
“careful young lady, you might be a fox but are still superior to you.”
“actually you are not. foxes are the superior species that is why they were hunted down, because their nature was to rule and not be ruled.” Chrystal said and I could feel the tension building in the room.
Vivian stood up and looked at Chrystal. “we are sorry for your loss and we cannot change the past, we can only better the future, but trusting a fox is a bit too much to ask.”
“well you should know since you have fox blood, but no fox.” Chrystal said and gasps were heard around the table.
Vivian stared at Chrystal and if looks could kill then we would all be dead. “what is she talking about?” Derek asked.
“you know what the problem is with our superiors? They have too many secrets.” Chrystal said and stood up walking around the table.
“what are you talking about?” Derek asked
“well you see when I asked for your hands I saw everything, every memory, every though, and every action. That is one of my abilities to see memories. So I know everything about each one of you and let me tell you, it’s shocking of how many secrets you keep from each other. As the council you should be able to tell each other anything to have that trust and none of you do. so this is how we are going to do things. I just need to get close enough to the queen without getting killed and you will do that for me or I will start a war and you will be the first ones.” Chrystal said and everything went downhill. Derek jumped out of his chair and took a protective stance, “is that a threat?” he asked his eyes turning darker.
“no, it’s a warning.” Chrystal said and stood behind Julian.
“we came here to listen and make a decision not threatened into submission by a fox.” Clarissa said looking at Chrystal and then at me.
“while you were hiding and playing house games we were here in the real world watching our mates die, faking our deaths to start a new life, waking up from the dead remembering that my mate hated me so much that he killed me. and I can tell you the story of each member in this pack. you are supposed to be the protectors and all you did was hide.” Chrystal said and I could feel her emotions are all over the place.
“what do you want us to do?” Clarissa asked walking over to Chrystal.
“I want you all to support us and stand with us.” Chrystal said and she calmed down a bit.
“and how do we do that?” Vivian asked.
“we don’t want a war but one already started, Queen Eliza sent royal wolves and rogues to attack our pack and that alone declared a war.” Chrystal said looking around the table.
“okay we will stand with you but if this turns out to be a war then you will bare full responsibility for it.” Derek said and got up from the table. “you can count on our support, as for now I’m tired.” Derek said and moved towards the door.
“your pack is truly an interesting pack Zanian.” Clarissa said and they all followed behind Derek with Chrystal taking them to their rooms.
Chrystal POV
I didn’t mean to get angry and talk so rudely to the elders but they need a wakeup call to realise what is happening. my anger got the better of me and my mouth just would stop talking I realise that threatening the council could have deadly consequence.
I was speaking the truth, I smelled Vivian even before I took her hand. She has fox blood in her, but she doesn’t have a fox.
I was shocked when Clarissa spoke up. And I see now that she has more brains and emotions than the rest of them.
Derek had a straight face throughout the whole meeting where as Cameron and Charles kept looking at us strangely almost like they are judging us.
After the meeting I showed the elders to their rooms and said goodnight. I was about to leave Clarissa’s room when she asked to speak to me for a second.
I followed her in and closed the door behind me.
“so you are a fox huh A very special one at that.” Clarissa said and I just looked at her confused.
“I will explain. Do you know the history of foxes and how they came to existence?” Clarissa asked.
“I know some of it, but I didn’t even know I had a fox until a year ago. I always thought I just had a split personality.” I said. Clarissa looked shocked for a moment and I explained about my father and what he did to supress my fox making my wolf dominant.
“wow, you really have a story and a half to tell don’t you?” Clarissa asked rubbing her temples.
“tell me Chrystal why is this so important to you? I mean you have a wonderful pack here and you have a life what else could you want?” Clarissa asked and I thought for a moment,
“I want to make sure that what happened to me and the people in or pack will never happen to anyone else, I want to give my daughters a life of safety and I want the truth more than anything.” I said and saw Clarissa smile at me.
“for a fox you are very sincere and you put others above yourself.” She said and I laughed.
“a fox is only as strong as the human allows it to be.” I said.
“well Chrystal I wish you all the luck and don’t worry, you won’t be harmed because of your vampire mate. We were waiting for something like this to happen for 2000 years and now that it has things will be changing.” Clarissa said and I thanked her, because that was our biggest worry.
When I left Clarissa’s room I felt somewhat better. The meeting didn’t go as we planned it went better. The elders have been filled in on what happened and hopefully they will not go back into hiding as they are our superiors.
I made my way back to the conference room where Zanian and Julian is waiting for me.
I swallowed as I walked in knowing that I’m in trouble.
I looked at Zanian and his expression was serious. I played with my fingers waiting for him to say something.
“so talking didn’t work so threatening them did?” Zanian asked and I didn’t dare look up at him. “what were you thinking C?”
“I wasn’t.” I said honestly.
“what if they left?” Zanian ask and only now do I see the seriousness of the situation I could have caused.
“well they didn’t.” I said and looked up at him. “we have been sitting for hours I mean it’s after midnight and we were going nowhere.”
“still we could have been sitting here for eternity it a matter of respect.” Zanian said.
I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes. “do not talk to me about respect Zanian. Because of me we have their support, because of me they are staying. You can’t always be afraid to speak up even if that id against the elders.” I said and looked at Julian. He was just shaking his head with a smile on his face.
“do you even realise what could have…” Zanian started saying but I cut him off
“I know what I did was wrong, but I wouldn’t change how I spoke to them, they have been hiding while wolves were suffering and they needed a reality check.”
“which you gave them.” Julian said and smiled at me.
“well you two were no help, so yes. I gave it to them. And Clarissa said nothing will happen to us.” I said and saw Julia’s smile growing wider until he smiled so wide I’m afraid he might pull a muscle or something.
I looked at Zanian and he was just staring at me, “you mean the council approves?” Zanian asked open mouthed.
“I don’t know if they approve. Clarissa just said we won’t be harmed and that they were waiting for something like this for 2000 years.”
Zanian pulled me into him and hugged me. okay more like squeezed me to death.
We cleared the conference room and put everything in bowls that wasn’t eaten as for the chocolates. Well don’t ask about that.
After we were done I was dead weight on my feet. I walked to the room and took a hot shower then got ready for bed.
As I walked into the room I saw Zanian was already on the bed waiting for me and just then Julian came in wearing only a pair of boxers.
I looked at the two of them and saw that they have showered.
“we didn’t want to join you because our room isn’t sound proof and we have guests, so we showered in the girls room.” Zanian said before I could ask.
I crawled to the middle and fell down. Zanian chuckled at soon I felt the bed dip as Julian made himself comfortable behind me. I felt two sets of arms wrap around my body and snuggled more into Zanian’s chest which caused Julian to move closer and bury his face in my hair.
“goodnight mates.” I said and let sleep take me.
