Julian POV
“you know, you will have to let me go some time.”
“no we don’t. it was hard enough capturing you so what makes you think we will let you go, besides you broke our most sacred law.”
“and what law is that?” I asked playing dumb.
“you mated with the enemy and shamed your kingdom.”
“last time I checked I wasn’t under kingdom rules and I’m supposed to be dead.”
“yes well imagine her surprise when she found out that you are still alive.”
Upon hearing him say that realization sunk in and I was losing patience. The only think keeping me in this cell is the fact that Helena had a hand in it.
Three days earlier.
I left Chrystal and Zanian knowing that they can take care of things because I have to hunt.
I never hunted this much before because human blood is much stronger than animal blood.
I woke up with a feeling that something is wrong and I did my best to hide it from Chrystal and Zanian, because I cannot give answers to questions I myself don’t know.
I tried a different part of the woods to hunt because I am tired of deer so I’ve decided to go deeper into the forest not knowing a trap has been set up.
I should have known something is wrong when wild animals just started running past.
I was rooted to my spot trying to figure out what is happening and by the time I picked up a scent it was too late. I couldn’t move, it felt like my whole body was being held down by invisible forces and there is only one person capable of taking down a royal, Helena.
The world started spinning and I felt sick and eventually everything went dark.
When I woke up I was lying on the cold hard floor feeling as though someone is banging my head against a wall repeatedly.
“the fogginess will wear off soon.” A female said and my head snapped up in the direction of the voice.
“what have you done to me?” I asked barely able to speak.
“I only put you to sleep.” The voice said and stepped out of the shadows. I looked at the figure and gasped when I saw Helena. She really doesn’t change. Her hair is still the dirty blond and her eyes a deep green as they have been since I first met her.
“I would say it’s a pleasure but it’s business really.” She said looking at me with a satisfied smirk on her face.
“why am I here?” I asked trying to get from the floor.
“you wound me.” she said giving a menacing laugh that sent shivers down my spine.
“remember when I said I will one day make sure you pay for what you have done to me?” she said leaning against the bars. “well as it turns out I wasn’t the only one looking for you and so I gave you up to the highest bidder and here you are.” Helena said and pouted faking a sad expression.
“what do you want?” I asked finally standing up. I had to grab onto the bars to steady myself. ‘what the hell did she do to me?’
“what I wanted you took from me, and for that I have never forgiven you so I will take what you love.” Helena said her face growing cold. I looked at her confused for a second so she went on explaining.
“once upon a time there was a nature loving friendly girl whom was given one task, to keep the balance and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. She lived for thousands of years doing just that and never once did she grow board until the day she met a boy who wasn’t just any boy, no. he was her mate sent to her as a reward of the good work she has been doing. They spent days and nights talking, laughing, and finally they made love. The girl was so naïve that she believed everything the boy said even when he told her his true motives. She was foolish and in love so she followed him blindly until he was confronted by one of his oldest enemies. You killed Daniel in cold blood before he could even tell you he changed and is no longer working with you father. You doomed me into living a life in darkness.” Helena said hatred dripping from her tongue with each word she spoke.
“he lied to you and deceived you. He was going to kill you as soon as you popped out an heir for him.” I said looking her dead in the eyes.
Helena looked at me and hissed, “he would have never done anything to hurt me, it was you he was protecting me from.”
I glared at Helena and let out a humourless laugh. “you think I would have hurt you? Is that what he said? tell me, if I wanted you dead wouldn’t you have been dead by now?” I asked with a raised brow looking at her. “besides, you doomed yourself, I gave you a choice. I asked you to come with me and you decided to kill an innocent instead.”
“you took everything from me Julian Carmelo and your father was just the first step in my grand plan.”
Before I could say anything else she was gone and a door opened which brings us back to the present.
I hissed at the man who dares to disrespect me. I may not be king, but I still am a born royal.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” He said and walked closer to the bars.
“I’ve heard the stories about you and it used to send shivers down my spine whenever someone mentioned your name but I must say seeing you like this… you are nothing like the tales made you out to be.” The man said and laughed in my face.
I lifted my hand and formed a slow fist. When I saw that nothing happened I stared at the man confused which caused him to laugh even more.
“your abilities won’t work Helena made sure of that.” He said and wiped invisible tears from his eyes.
I growled out in frustration and ran towards the bars smashing into them as hard as I could. And as expected it didn’t even vibrate from the impact. “when I get out of here I will kill every one of you.” I said watching the man take a cautious step back swallowing hard.
He composed himself and left the room.
My mind started working overtime. Think Julian think…
Every spell has it’s weakness and a shielding spell had a few. I walked up and down in the cell trying to think of everything that I have learned over the years.
‘That’s it.’ I said and looked up. I saw the small window with moonlight streaming through. “the spell is bound to the sun and moon.” I said to myself and almost patted myself. For the spell to stop working I would need to cover that window. I took off the jacket I was wearing and stuffed it between the bars. I was left standing in only my boxer shorts and I dint mind because I managed to close every inch of the window. now all I have to do is wait it out.
I sat down in the corner of the small cell and laid my head against the wall.
I have no idea how long I’ve been like that before the door opened again revealing the same man as before. He had two bags of blood in his hand and the minute he stuck his hand through the bars I jumped up and grabbed his arm. I took both blood bags from him and threw them on the floor and bit into his warm soft flesh instead. If I am to gain my strength I need warm fresh blood.
He let out a scream of pain and tried pulling his arm back only causing the holed I made to tear and the blood came out faster. I drank my fill and let go of his arm and watched as he laid there passed out on the floor.
I pulled him closer and took his clothes off. Struggling was never part of my plan, but a desperate man has a lot of patience.
The door slammed open and multiple vampires came running in with their familiars.
“no, no, no, no.” a woman said and bent down next to the man on the floor. She assessed his wound and glared up at me. “if he dies, you die.” She said and left.
‘he must be her familiar then.’ I thought and shrugged my shoulders.
I looked around the crowd that gathered and said, “which one of you is going to let me out?” I asked feeling my strength returning.
“you will never see daylight again if it’s up to me.” a woman said causing the crowed to bow and step away.
I faked a smile when I saw the woman before me. “always a pleasure mother.” I said bowing my head in mockery. I saw the cold look on her face and she said, “you have insulted everything we stand for, and that will not be tolerated.” My mother said giving me a cold look.
I looked at my nails displaying how bored I am with the conversation. When I looked up she bared her fangs at me. “oh I’m sorry I stopped listening.” I said and her face flushed red with anger. “I didn’t break any rules.” I said which caused my mother to let out a cold laugh.
“you mated with a wolf.” She said and I just had to stall for a few more minutes.
I shook my head and everyone stared at me in disbelief. “I mated with something far more powerful that comes from a deadly and possessive bloodline.” I said and now it was my time to smirk.
“what have you done?” my mother asked taking a step back.
“I am mated to a fox a descendant from King Vulpes himself.” I said and watched the colour drain from everyone’s faces.
“that’s not possible, the last Vulpes family members died 400 years ago.” My mother said and looking at me as if I have grown two heads. I shook my head and lifted my hand.
I summoned fire and my hand held flames. I looked up and smirked.
My mother looked at me and then behind me at the window I closed up. She gulped and took a step back.
I felt my fangs extract and my eyes change to gold. I rolled my neck and gave everyone a death stare.
“now, will the gates be opened or do I have to open them myself?” I asked watching the fear on everyone’s faces.
I gave a cold humourless laugh and came back to my normal self. If you let me leave I will not harm any of you, and if you try and stop me I will burn this place down.” I said looking at my mother.
“we cannot do that.” She said looking at me.
I raised a brow at her and she said, “you have to answer for what you have done.”
I had to try. I turned my back to them and closed my eyes. I have no idea where I am so I tried my best to link Chrystal. I can link her, but she cannot link me.
I kept it short and sweet. “trouble need help. Follow the link you are feeling.”
And I cut the link. I turned around letting out a small chuckle. “okay I will wait here for whoever.” I said and sat back against the wall.
