Gov Ortom Narrates Escaped From Fulani Terrorists


Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has narrated his escape from death as suspected Fulani bandits attacked his convoy on Saturday.

Report gathered state that the governor was on his way to Makurdi when the terrorists opened fire on his convoy.

He said he ran a distance of one and a half kilometers to escape from the terrorists as they were more than 15 in number, dressed in black attire and shot openly on sighting him and his security men.

The incident, he said happened around 11:00 am on Saturday at his farm along Makurdi/Gboko road.

“You know today is Saturday and is normal as a farmer, I usually go to my farm; so I went to my farm along Gboko road and on our way back, we started hearing some gunshots and we discovered people who were dressed in black and from experience, we now discovered that these are Fulani militias,” Eye witness said.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attack in a statement, issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The party calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to put machinery in motion by ordering an immediate manhunt, arrest and prosecution of the assailants and as well beef up security around the governor.
