The president of the company Dangote group, Aliko Dangoteshared some insights on what Nigerians should expect from its refinery which is expected to start operating soon.
Dangote spoke to the correspondent of Arise News during a special documentary report on the site ofIbeju Lekki Lagos, while the exclusive interview aired in the Monday, March 21 ed ition of Good
According to the billionaire businessman, the refinery when completed will meet the total fuel demand of Nigerians. It will not only refine the Petroleum Engine Spirit, the PMSbut will also refine aviation fuel, liquefied gases and other products.
Dangote noted that once the operation begins, it will help the Nigerian government to build its reserve of exchange since the crude oil will now be refined locally. He frowned upon the idea of producing crude oil and exporting it outside the country where it will be refined with a huge amount of dollar money.
He said no country can make progress in such a situation.
Asking why he chose to invest such a sum of money in Nigeria and not elsewhere, Dangote revealed that he was passionate about the development of Nigeria. He said he wanted to see a country that is doing well in all areas of theeconomy.
He revealed that he could have kept his money in the bank outside the country like other great men and his comrades in Nigeria but he decided to invest it here because he is very passionate about the country.
He was also of the opinion that the only way to grow the country is for everyone to contribute their quota without having to wait for government intervention on everything.
