Elon Musk really thinks about doing it in practice to defend freedom of speech

If you think that you have the appetite to do something else at the moment besides your problems, the possible decision of Elon Musk to create his own social media platform, is what you need to get an extra shot.

As he wrote in a tweet on Saturday: “As Twitter is considered a public space, non-compliance with the principles of freedom of speech fundamentally undermines freedom. What needs to be done?

He seems to be thinking very seriously since he then asked if a new platform is needed. According to CNN, under an agreement it had made in 2018 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk must obtain prior approval from other Tesla executives before posting tweets about the company.

When he asked his Twitter followers in November if he should sell 10% of his shares to Tesla, the electric vehicle company sent him a summons from the SEC because the poll question prompted a sale of shares. Tesla CEO then spoke of “harassment”.

If Elon Musk eventually creates his own social media, his name will be on a list of public figures and tech companies that leave the traditional social media networks and set up their own platforms to defend “free speech”.

Rumble, Parler and Gettr have also appeared as alternatives on the major social media networks. Now it remains to be seen whether Musk, in addition to words, does it in practice!
