Like his compatriot Boulaye Dia, the former Senegalese international Mame Biram Diouf also spoke to our colleagues from the Senegalese Press Agency on the sidelines of the trip of the national team from Senegal to Egypt.

This Friday, March 25, Senegal finds Egypt in Cairo for the first leg of the 2022 World Cup play-offs less than two months after beating them during their coronation in Cameroon. Former Teranga Lions striker Mame Biram Diouf urges the reigning African Champions to be cautious and psychologically prepared for possible destabilizing maneuvers.

“They (Egypt Ed…) will try to destabilize the players as they tried to do, even releasing dogs on the training ground on the eve of the meeting”said the former Manchester United resident. “We agreed to hunker down, take their jeers and heckling and we did the job on the pitch on D-Day. That’s what I expect from players”

“I imagine the World Cup qualifiers will be even more difficult and they will try to try to use all means to get through. It will be a dense first 15 minutes, where they will attack to try to score. The national team must be compact, turn their backs and perhaps accept to undergo and prepare their counterattacks. It’s up to the players and the technical staff to be vigilant,”

concluded Mame Biram Diouf.
