Mystery in Togo: A giant hammer weighing more than 19 tons arouses curiosity (photo)

On Monday April 4, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Kossi Gbényo LAMADOKOU, visited Yohonou in the Vo prefecture.

In this locality located about thirty kilometers from the town of Vogan, the Minister saw firsthand the exceptional nature of this site called “Hammer of Africa”.

Indeed, Yohonou’s hammer is a very imposing and mysterious work by the tree trunk which is housed in its heart. It is 5 meters long with a weight of 19.5 tons.

It is a work of the German-Togolese collaboration in the village of Yohonou which has an old and solid reputation in terms of forging.

Given the interest that the local populations attach to it, the Minister of Culture and Tourism believes that the development for tourist purposes of this site will surely contribute to the creation of wealth in the environment and beyond for the whole country.
