The video takes us back to the 1990s, when Will Smith appears to be joking with alopecia areata of John B. Williams, bassist on “The Arsenio Hall Show”
After Will Smith’s viral punch to Chris Rock following the latter’s comment on Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, a second video has been going viral for a few hours now, making the rounds of the internet and taking us back in time.
Specifically, the video takes us back to the 1990s, when Will Smith seems to be joking with alopecia areata of John B. Williams, the bassist of “The Arsenio Hall Show”. Smith seems to be saying, referring to him: “He has to put a candle on his head every morning.” The audience at that moment seems to be either laughing at their “joke” or making disapproving comments. Smith even went on to say, “Come on, it’s funny.”
And it may have been funny for the actor then, but thirty years later, he would have hit someone for exactly the same “joke”! As it turns out, Twitter has a good memory and made a series of scathing comments:
“Will Smith is joking with a member of the Arsenio Hall band who had alopecia and lost his hair. “It’s just a joke,” says one user, while another comments that “the internet never forgets.”
That time in 1991 when Will Smith made fun of a bald man on the Arsenio Hall Show and said “awe these are jokes man c’mon”.#WillAndChris #WillSmithAssault #ChrisRock #WillSmith pic.twitter.com/LMUyjwj0d8

It all started at the Oscars when Chris Rock had just taken the stage and started making the established jokes of the presenters. One of them was the hair of Jada Pinkett Smith, whom she compared to GI Jane (the character of Demi Moore in the movie of the same name, who shaves her head to go to the army). Seconds later, Will Smith takes the stage, approaches Rock and punches him or something that looks like a punch.
Then Smith turns around and starts yelling at Rock “keep my wife’s name out of your f *** ing mouth”. Will Smith apologized – not directly, to Chris Rock, but to the Film Academy.
“I want to apologize to the Film Academy. I want to apologize to my fellow candidates. It’s a beautiful moment and I’m not crying because I won an award. The fact that I was awarded has nothing to do with me. It has to do with giving light to all people “, he stressed in the speech he delivered, when he won his own Oscar for Best Actor.
Then, the actor formally apologized to him Chris Rock – that is, he made a post on Instagram. “Violence is poisonous and destructive in all its forms,” he said. “My behavior at last night’s awards was unacceptable and unjustified. Jokes against me are part of the job, but jokes about Jada’s condition were too much for me and I reacted emotionally. I’m going to apologize publicly, Chris. I exceeded the limits and I was wrong. I feel ashamed and my actions do not represent who I want to be. There is no room for violence in a world of love and kindness».
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers, the attendees and the spectators around the world. I would also like to apologize to the Williams family and the King Richard family. I deeply regret my behavior, which marked this journey that was beautiful for all of us. I’m trying to evolve. “
Will Smith admitted his mistake, but a public apology is not enough to make us believe him, looking specifically at his past. This is not the first time he has used physical violence – let’s not forget that, at the premiere of Men in Black 3, he slapped the Ukrainian comedian Vitalii Sediuk who, disguised as a journalist, tried to make fun of him and kiss him on the mouth.
