Will Smith: the fate of the star at the next Oscars will be decided…

The Academy Awards Board of Governors has decided to make a final decision on what type of disciplinary action it will take in relation to Will Smith’s behavior at its meeting next month.

A day after the incident, a letter from Academy President David Rubin and Executive Director Dawn Hudson was sent to all Academy members. They expressed their “outrage” over Will Smith’s actions and how they “overshadowed” the event.

According to a statement from the Academy, no d isciplinary action will be ruled out at the next board meeting.

“At the next Board meeting on April 18, the Academy may take any disciplinary action, which may include suspension, expulsion, or other sanctions permitted by the Bylaws and Standards of Conduct,” was declared.

However, Will Smith was given 15 days to send a written response to be heard before the meeting.

“Consistent with Academy standards of conduct, as well as California law, Mr. Smith is given at least 15 days notice of a vote regarding his violations and penalties and is given an opportunity to be heard beforehand by means of a written response.”

The statement credits Chris Rock for his composure after the actor’s “shocking” actions.

“Mr. Smith’s actions at the 94th Academy Awards were a deeply shocking and traumatic event to witness in person and on television. Mr. Rock, we apologize for what you experienced on our stage and thank you for your resilience at this time. We also apologize to our nominees, guests, and viewers for what happened during what should have been a celebratory event.

Things happened in a way that we could not have foreseen. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and declined, we also recognize that we could have handled the situation differently,” the statement read.
